Recently I had gone to a tournament in Chandigarh. I am deeply fond of skating and had gone to play nationals (the whole of India can participate). The association had done a spectacular job in holding the tournament. They organized it well and we had a great time. Usually in India, cricket is the most important sport and is organized the best because it gets the most funds. Skating is not a popular sport so we were surprised to see it done so well.
It was a 4 days tournament for my age category which is 14-17. I am only 14 so it was a tough competition. The first day was the inauguration ceremony and we got entertained by different forms of skating such as freestyle, roller hockey, speed, and skateboarding. the whole Indian team participated in this ceremony to welcome us. I looked up to them thinking one day I shall be a part of this prestigious team. I had my race early morning the next day and about 45 girls were in my category. The race was 500mts and we sprinted throughout. It was a tough competition and I was happy I qualified for the semi-finals (only 16 of the best skaters qualify). I didn't reach finals this time but had gained immense knowledge and experience about where I stand and how I can improve to come under the top 3. I had two more races after this 1000mts and road 1lap. they too went the same. I was sad that I didn't qualify for the finals but now I know how hard I must work till the next nationals to win a gold to make myself, my family, and the whole Karnataka state proud.
The next nationals will be held in Bangalore and I am working towards it with all my might. I am pushing myself more and more every day because I know if I stop I am never going to progress and I want a gold medal.
